Changing the conversation

Start Talking. Stop HIV.

Despite the progress made over the past three decades in combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States, men who have sex with men remain disproportionately affected by the disease.

Start Talking. Stop HIV. — a social marketing campaign targeting gay and bisexual men as part of CDC’s Act Against AIDS initiative—aims to change these statistics by encouraging men in all types of relationships to talk about HIV testing, their HIV status, condom use, and medicines that help prevent and treat HIV.

Through social and digital media and the development of creative materials, Start Talking. Stop HIV. reaches gay and bisexual men where they live, work, and socialize with the intention of encouraging conversations about HIV in order to reduce the number of new HIV infections.
